Wow. This is fantastic. It makes me wish Sofia Bandawe was a real poet (is she an actual Marvel-verse character, or your own invention?). Both characters are pitch-perfect (both in terms of movie characterization and in terms of relationships between women), and I find myself hoping they remain friends; Pepper has too few of those.

Thank you so much for this; it's certainly a fic to remember.

Bandawe is my own creation. I figured you can't have a place like Genosha without having dissident expat Genoshan poets. That's just how the universe works, right?

Thank you so much for reading and commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

Oh, what a great idea! They both come across as very real, and I love the tie-ins to the larger Marvelverse, Genoshan poetry and all.

Thank you! I've been slowly familiarizing myself with the Marvel comicsverse. I'm not quite ready to attempt actual comics-based fic yet, but I wanted to at least get some details into my version of the movieverse. I'm very glad that it worked for you.

Heeee. Oh, Tony. This was so much fun! I love the way you fleshed out Christine and got her and Pepper around to being friends. It was a clever contrivance, and I love that they really did fight crime together. Did you come up with the blowgun, or is that canon? They do seem like two women who would get along if they hadn't met in the way they did, and I love the way you brought that idea to life. Bravo! :)

The lipstick gun isn't canon, but it totally should be, dammit! Just like Pepper and Christine should totally be pals. :-)

Thanks so much for reading. *hugs*

It should be! That is a seriously clever idea right there. :) (Both of them. :D)

It was fun! *hugs back*

*seal clap of glee* Genosha poets and tranquilizer darts and enemies bonding, oh my! This was scads of fun, and I love the little hints at the wider Marvel universe. Also, you made two women who I never thought would be friends both fight crime and paint their toenails together. And taunt Tony, of course ;)

[totally OT: I love leaving comments right after my sister. You can tell that she told me I had to read this right away, OMG. *g*]

The fighting crime was actually easier to achieve than the toenail-painting. :-) But I'm glad the end result worked for you. Thanks for the feedback!

Oh, I *like* this. Your Pepper is great, and I really like the insight into Everhart and what motivates her. I particularly like the way you get past the surface misogyny of the film, showing Christine as a *reporter* with genuine ambitions beyond what we get to see in movie canon, and letting us see a little more of what was behind Pepper's snide comments. I really like the idea of them bonding over their shared experience of being underestimated women in tough professions! Much as I loved Iron Man, it sorely lacked female-female interactions, and this is just lovely.

Thank you! It's great to know that my portrayal of Christine worked. I thought the movie hinted at a lot of interesting things about her, but never really developed them, so I did my best to do her justice here.
