I've been wanting to write this story for ages - Eva was always my favorite character of that film, even if Jody was the 'star.'

I ESPECIALLY love how at the end, Eva is looked up to

That bit, and her going to Juliette's office, are the two things I really wanted to get into the story. Well, and Eva curled up on a chair in Juliette's office talking about her girlfriend, but since this is femgen, I left that bit out :)

Awesome! I loved that movie ... the dancing was amazing. I never thought it would have fanfic, either.

I love it too - I'm a huge fan of dancing movies!

LOVE IT. LOVE IT. Seriously, Eva was my favourite character in that movie and Zoe Saldana was far and away the best of the young actors. I love the glimpses we get of her friendships with the others, especially Maureen. And her mentor/student relationship with Juliette. Wonderfully done!

Also, if I were to write a gender-bended and race-bended version of Mike from Suits, I would definitely cast Zoe Saldana because Eva's journey in the movie is so very similar to Mike's, especially in the first two episodes.

Zoe as Mike would be an awesome TV show - especially if they kept in the stuff with Jenny and Rachel. And okay, now I'm imagining Zoe Saldana in the suits Mike wears...

I think maybe Zoe Saldana was the only young actor - I think the rest were dancers - which may explain why she was so much better. Which she really was, I love her in that movie (well, and every other movie I've ever seen her in, to be fair)

I first spotted Zoe Saldana in Center Stage and I remember thinking 'that girl's a star.' (So happy to have been proven right in the interim, btw.) While the movie was a bit silly, the characters still managed to resonate, so I was intrigued to see this story appear. You've done a magnificent job capturing all their personalities, even in the small moments as with Maureen over the phone. And Eva is just tremendous. SUCH a pleasure to read.

Also, Cooper was an asshole, for all that Jody seemed to think he'd reformed.

::snorts:: I adored the internal monologue in this.

Dancing Giselle meant you'd made it as a classical ballerina. No Latina woman had ever danced it.

With a contract to the American Ballet Company to her name, she felt like she could be the first. Like she would be the first.

LOVE this! Love her ambition and determination and the fact that she won't change her mind because it matters that much to her. Awesome.

I know Jody's the star of the movie, but Maureen and Eva were far more interesting to me than Jody.
