It's a house. Sure, it's what Tess calls home these days, but Luthor Mansion doesn't have any deep emotional connection for her than any other place she's ever lived does. Aside from her childhood home, but that's not something she thinks about, if she can.
It's just a house, be it a large one and mostly empty. And certainly that means there's room for someone to stay if they would be so inclined when they're in town. Not that Tess would make that offer to just anyone and the fact she made it to Lana speaks of something she isn't sure she wants to really acknowledge. And very possibly won't.
Still, the petite brunette has taken her up on the offer and so here they are. Two women, each once so devoted to this abode's former owner and now, oddly enough, able to find a sort of solace within each other. It's comforting, in a way.
It's very comforting, more so than she would have ever suspected. All she'd wanted when they'd met was to stop Lex and to keep another woman from losing herself to him. It's far deeper now.
"Thank you for letting me stay here," she says quietly. Honestly, she hoped she would offer as soon as the subject came up, but Lana knows better than to expect good things to happen. When they actually do, it just makes her all the more grateful.
And all Tess had wanted was to get Lana the hell out of Smallville. Which had actually happened, only for her to realize that might not have been the best of plans.
"I know how much you must miss the commute from Smallville to Metropolis," Tess offers as a half excuse, pouring her guest a glass of wine. "I couldn't deprive you of that by letting you stay at some fancy hotel downtown, now, could I?"

Lana offers a grateful smile. "I suppose not." She knows it's an excuse, but she doesn't acknowledge that; it's better for both of them that way. She sips her wine, feeling just a little awkward drinking in front of a pregnant woman. This isn't something she acknowledges, either. "Even after everything that's happened, Smallville still feels like home."
