Lyrics
You left me stranded here
Abandoned and alone
With silly memories of things
I've never known
So when the mystery
Is starting to grow old
Another dream goes by
Like ashes out of gold

I totally didn't see where this was going until the very end, and it made it even sadder - to know that Angel didn't watch him crumble to dust in seconds, he had to watch him grow old over many years... Just beautiful, sweetie, as always.
Can I second preetybird in the sentiment that my heart has been ripped out and tap-danced on?

My initial idea was to have him actually have grown old immediately, the shanshu making the years gone by catch up with him in a few minutes, but I didn't know how to say that without it sounding cheesy and in the end I decided to just let people judge by themselves how much time has gone by. And now I'm probably ruining it. *blushes*

Ahem...seriously, good stuff. Depressing, but good.

Thank you so much. So glad you liked it. Seems most my writing is depressing these days, even my poems. I really need to lighten some up. *sighs*

Tell me, because I'm really curious to know what thoughts it inspired, what did you think/hope it was?
Ps. it's all fiction anyway. You know in reality they're happy and together. I mean really! *smooch*

I just... thought he was dead! And that Angel was visiting his grave, or something, which, I assume, is what you wanted us to think. And I think it would have been happier then having a old and obviously deaf (blind? dumb?) Spike to watch suffer...

Comatose Spike, or something like that, was what I pictured him as. Knowing nothing of what was happening around him. Now that I think of it, it would be intriguing to read a fic where he has Alzheimer or something, not knowing who Angel or anyone was, not remembering anything of their past. But not for me to write because it would just be repeating this in a different way. *throws carrots your way*

Lovely story. And at least they get a human lifetime together.

Thank you so much. Here's a hankie for your tears (although I suspect they're dry by now, sorry for answering so late *blushes*)
