I was downtown this morning. It was sunny and surprisingly warm and I felt good, finally getting some time on my own and out of the house. I had coffee and then walked around a bit when suddenly a thought hit me. I couldn't remember where I'd left my kids! Obviously I must have left them with someone because I wouldn't have left them home alone.

I've had that happen to me in REAL LIFE.
It's a truly horrifying feeling. It grips you, digs it's claws in, plants it's feet, and won't let anything else happen.
And then, I did remember. But it was the kind of memory I had to TELL myself: "Remember, this morning, you brought them to so-n-so's, she said this, remember? And then you said this. And the kids did this. Remember? Yeah? Good! Okay, continue your wonderful private time."
