Me and hubby have a rather large collection of comicbooks which is mostly build up by the classic European comics (Tin Tin, Spirou, Gaston, Lucky Luke etc.) Now that everyone is talking about the Spike and Angel comics I'm wondering if they're worth buying. So far what I can find at IDW Publishing are those ( Read more... )

You don't need the single issues and the TPB (trade paperback) of The Curse (in fact, it's not great, so you probably don't need it at all - Angel goes to Romania to try and get his curse lifted so he can be with Nina, and fights some vampires. Not much happens.)

That seems to be the general opinion so I guess I'l skip that one. Who wants him to be with Nina anyway. Way too hairy. *g*

Spike: Old Times
I have:-
Spike Old Times
Spike: Old Wounds
Spike vs. Dracula #1
Spike vs. Dracula #2
Angel: Old Friends #1
Angel: Old Friends #2
Angel: Old Friends #4
Angel: Old Friends #5

Of these I would say that Old Times is a must have. Everything is as a graphic novel should be great colour, inkwork and a good story. Old Wounds is not so good, but I did enjoy it.

I love Spike Vs Dracula, and am waiting expectantly for #3 coming out.

I was not very impressed with Old Friends, even though I did get the complete series, just to see how it finished really.

I don't have the Curse, so cannot comment on it.

Hope that helps?

I've got Old Times and Old Wounds. I did not care for the art because it was so obviously using Photoshop to trace over photos for the detailed pics. There was even one pic of Spike that I looked at and immediately knew that the base pic was the one you have up there in your banner...
But it's Spike, so I buy anyway!

Angel: the Curse is boring. Forget it. The Spike vs Dracula and Spike: Old Times and Spike:Old Wounds are great.

Angel: Old Friends (which ran to 5 issues) is okay-ish. You can manage without it.

Funny thing, Spike: Lost and Found which you talk about and was released yesterday is not available to buy at the site. huh? And it sounds so interesting too! Damn. It's the same site as Sue links to so it should be there, right? *is confused*

It should be there, I agree. Maybe they just don't have it in yet? Also, they don't mention AngeL: Old Friends no 5, which came out about 3 weeks back.

Are there no comic shops in Reykjavik?

There is one shop and I was going to check their website but of course it's down for renovation so I guess I'll just have to go there and look around. Been a while since I went there but last time I did they didn't have anything Buffy or Angel related, probably since Buffy was only shown here for 5 seasons and Angel not at all so the fanbase isn't very big.

okay the reviews of the comcis are a bit disappointing. Thanks for posting this...

Oh and please do this...

Congress is pushing a law that would abandon the Internet's First Amendment -- a principle called Network Neutrality that prevents companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast from deciding which Web sites work best for you -- based on what site pays them the most. If the public doesn't speak up now, our elected officials will cave to a multi-million dollar lobbying campaign.

I'm not sure if it is mine to speak up since it's not my congress. Even if it is the Internet which is worldwide I'm not sure if I have anything to say in what is voted for/against in other countries. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not really into how this works.
