The long and misleading adventure of The Doors of Time.

First, I want to thank all you interested parties reading this for your patience with me in supplying news about The Doors of Time since I pulled it down. I've been avoiding answering requests and questions about it for so long because I didn't know what I was allowed to say without jeopardising my chances. But, as the whole thing just fell through ( Read more... )

Congrats of making the top ten!

And maybe get an editor and proofreader? try alexisjane, she might be able to help! She's just now publishing original fiction.

700+ pages? WOW! That's amazing. Does that include all the time-stamps also?

I love The Doors of Time! When I do have the time I'm gonna make an e-book of it! As I love that format on my tablet!

The editor that didn't like it probably wanted an *Icelandic* story. Not the awesomeness of J2 through your brain.

Now you got me in the mood to read it, again! *looking for the pdf!*

*hugs*

So, I know we've never "met" (Hi! I'm Jen!) but I'm just feeling compelled to comment here. The Doors of Time is one of my favorite books - fanfic or "traditional" - and I got so immensely excited when I read you were trying for publishing. It's something I would absolutely want to keep on my bookshelf, pulling it down to reread until it's dogeared and battered. It's such a beautiful, masterfully told story. The magic of it touches my heart.

Now that I'm done gushing - I just wanted to encourage you to keep trying. As a writer I'm just a wee toddler, so I have no advice as to the publishing process unfortunately, but I can offer encouragement. The story is amazing and someone out there in the publishing industry will see that - it's just a matter of finding that someone. And when it does finally happen, I'll be pre-ordering my copy as soon as it's available and waiting impatiently for it to arrive!

So sorry for the disappointment. My daughter is going the same route.

I love this story more than I can express. I have literally read thousands of books in the course of my life and IMHO your story is as well written as any that I have read.

Please don't get discourage and stop writing, it would be a terrible loss to those of us who follow you!

(I am over 60 an started reading books around 12 - 13. I passed my English class by reading the classics and writing book reports to Brian up my grade. I read and enjoy everything from Jane Austin to fan fiction and happily found your stories!

As always, thank you for sharing!

After someone who has been lerking for years to check the progress of your beautiful story, just wanted to offer my two cents. Have you heard of the Captive Prince Series written by Australian C.S Pacat? It started off as original fiction on Ao3, then the author self published it on kindle, and somewhere along the line it became so popular that Penguin/Random House published it. I know that in Australia, gay love stories (sorry having a blank on the appropriate term) are gaining in popularity.

Congratulations on being shortlisted. Thats a huge achievement, be proud of yourself xx
