I know from the other perspective that it can be really hard judging other people's writing, because you can't always see how much work there is behind it. So I think the teachers were put in a bad position when the pass/fail rule was changed - and may have felt unable to grade people on the scale and therefore given everybody (who apparently passed) the same grade. If they're not used to teaching at the university it may very well be that they're not familiar with the grade-scale (and think they gave everybody a fair grade).

I do understand your disappointment and frustration, because it lowers your average and is unfair if you put more work into it/did a better job than others who got the same grade. But on the bright side - in the end all the work you did will pay off for you, nobody will ever ask what grade you got for this particular course.

jeez, slapped down for doing the job! sucks. u did ur up most. u didn't just try.
sounds like u put a lot of blood sweat and tears into ur work. the professor should only judge on the quality of your work, not on the basis of his feelings of the subject matter. not a very good professor. after all, he is not teaching religion in that class, he is suppose to be teaching writing, right? he let his ideology cloud his mission of grading writing work.
I wish life was always fair. I hope u don't take this. stick up for yourself after you calm down. if you go in angry nobody will listen. you have to be the be the bigger man here to win.
