That's the phone I intend to get in March (but by that time, I think I'm gonna end up with a Galaxy S3), so let me know how it is! My very first phone was one of the long, blue Nokia phones, and then I switched to Blackberry, which is a brand I've stuck to for 6 years. So I'm quite excited to be switching to a new brand.

The first apps I always download is Facebook, Twitter, and Pandora. Those are the 3 apps that I use more than any other. Oh, and for games, Angry Birds...I'm addicted!

So far it's working out great. Although it did take me two days to figure out how to answer it. LOL. What's Pandora?

Pandora is a music app. You can put in an artist or choose a channel. When you listen to a song, you either like or dislike it and after a while, it builds a channel based on your likes.

I just got a Samsung Galaxy too! And like you it's the first time I have a fancy smartphone, I'm in awe of all the shiny things it can do!

So far I've added: Twitter, El Jay (I haven't really used it so I don't know how good it is but I've been told you could crosspost, so I'll see), GoogleReader, Evernote, Tumblr, Instagram and Dropbox. As well as Allociné - don't know what could be your equivalent, it's an app that allows me to look for films and what time they're showing at what cinemas...

I always said I didn't need a fancy phone, as long as mine was working who cares about all that techno stuff, right? Then my phone started fucking up and everyone in my family + my friends were playing with their phones and posting pics and I didn't even have a decent camera. So I told hubby, "maybe I wouldn't mind getting one for my birthday..." Apparently that was a huge relief because my family/friend had no idea what to get me. So I got it from all of them together. lol

I actually posted this entry using ElJay so that works. (Slow going though, typing on that little keyboard, lol) And I've added Twitter and the rest except Google Reader, guess I should find that.

Hmm, I think there might be an Icelandic cinema app...

Aldiko is my favorite reading app. Definitely need a book reader. I have all my fav fan fics in epubs (for phone and ereader). I loved how it had the opening screen as a book shelf (the latest update seems to have changed that. Grr...) There are lots of others but I find Aldiko renders the epub code best (I cant say fully properly, seems like no one renders follows all the rules fully.)

For games theres always angry birds (everyone seems obsessed with it and I do find it addictive too)...I downloaded some word games for my self and my nephew made me download "fruit ninja", "bunny shooter" and "tetris".

For useful ones I have a quick timer and GPS track-logger (and it came with calender, calculator etc).

Oh, definitely. I was thinking of Kindle because most my book files are .mobi but it is a bitch to install, or at least I can't get it to read them. Guess I can always use Calibre to convert them.

I think i might have as few games on as I can if for no other reason that otherwise my son will be bugging me non stop (and not just his father) because he loves Angry Birds and Minecraft etc.

What's quick timer?

Well its actually a "kitchen timer" on my phone but its just a fast way to set a buzzer....cuz I don't want to set a new "Alarm" to go off in 15 mins when I just want a quick one time reminder that times up.

That's one thing I found disappointing when I got my samsung (not new anymore...). My old ancient phone had a "quick alarm" for those short 'I need a reminder in 15 minutes' times but my current phone is annoying to set a new alarm, nothing quick about it...so I got this timer app.

Oh, ok. The clock on mine actually has a timer that's fairly easy to use so I think I'll stick with that. :)

Sorry to drop in. But I use the app FBReader to read my mobi-files. I usually like Aldiko better, but I don't want to convert all my files I made for my Windows-phones mobi-app over the last year's.

Thank you!

Yeah, I own a Kindle so I have all my books and fic in .mobi. I was not looking forward to converting every time I wanted to read something on my phone. :)

ETA. Oh, I'm loving the brown FBReader background. The white on Alkido was a bit too bright for my taste.

You can switch to a black background in Aldiko by hitting the day/night option then slide your finder down the side of the screen to dull the white words down. I usually keep it on the lowest brightness of white words on black background. I love this for night/dark room reading.

I love Yelp! The app let's you search for, for example, a bookstore or Indian restaurant within 5 miles that is Open Now, and sort the results by user ratings. It connects to reviews, the phone and web page of the business, and even hooks into Google maps to give you directions by car, walking, or public transport!
