Among my favourite takes on Sherlock (BBC) in fic is where he so blindly believes the sociopath diagnosis he probably got as a child/pre-teen (Oh, I can so see it. You know his parents used it to control him as well as Mycroft who probably still holds it over his head, all in the name of brotherly love, the misguided bastard.) that he thinks himself incapable of falling in love and consequently is in denial of (or simply doesn't understand) the effect John has on him. (Any links to fic of that kind muchly appreciated, btw.)
On that note, this song needs to be in that kind of vid, Sherlock's POV.
Love, Love, Love by Of Monsters and Men.
Well maybe I’m a crook
for stealing your heart away
and maybe I’m a crook
for not caring for it.
Yeah, maybe I’m a bad, bad, bad, bad person.
But, baby, I know.
And these fingertips
will never run through your skin
and those bright blue eyes
can only meet mine
across a room, filled with people
that are less important than you.
Cause you, love, love, love
when you know I can’t love.
You love, love, love
when you know I can’t love.
You love, love, love,
when you know I can’t love you.
So I think it’s best
we both forget
before we dwell on it.
...
The way you held me so tight
all through the night,
‘till it was near morning.
Cause you, love, love, love
when you know I can’t love.
You love, love, love
when you know I can’t love.
You love, love, love,
when you know I can’t love you.
Cause you, love, love, love
when you know I can’t love.
You love, love, love
when you know I can’t love.
You love, love, love,
when you know I can’t love you.
I had an earlier version of this song, ripped from YouTube before the album came out, but this one is so much better. Eerier, sadder, regretful, so resigned. So very much Sherlock, never mind the female voice.
Btw, this is an Icelandic band which I absolutely love and is not only available on iTunes but got on the Top 10 iTunes albums list at the end of December. Highly recommended.
