Hm. True.

I usually stick with "It's hard to explain..." then putting my headphones back on and continuing to read.

Me neither. I hate that. I usually use "It's hard to describe.." Which really doesn't help. Because then you get pestered.. I need some new ideas.

Wear headphones when you're out in public.
That way you can put them on and block attempts at further pestering.

I usually do (Cthulhu bless the 1 gig iPod shuffles).. But it's just in general, online, etc.. It usually ends up with "You know, I've got to go.."
