So I made it in. On the trip from Calgary, I wasn't entirely sure. I suspect that plane was something the Red Baron shot down and Air Canada had refurbished, and that it gained the power of flight through happy thoughts.

I'm glad you're enjoying Nuit. The thing for me was how thoroughly it enrobes you in the sense of place: I remember a strong feeling of actually being in beatnik-era Montreal and being slightly disoriented upon realizing that the metro station I was in was built in 1978.

It's too bad the English translation didn't seem to be very good.

I haven't read that one but I love Michel Tremblay. I like the way he writes and it also helps that he's really nice (of course, I only met him once)

The funny thing about him is that I've heard a lot of French people (from France) not liking him because he tends to use a lot of Quebec expressions in his novels and they say they can't understand what he's writing. It use to really annoy me when I worked at Indigo...

In any case, I should start reading some of his books again.

Well, enjoy your time there. ^_^ When you get back we'll have to get together for tea and games.

Glad you made it safe and sound! I've never been convinced that anything other than happy thoughts keeps planes in the air.

We're really looking forward to catching up in a few days. Let us know if you need a Vancouver break while you're here. :)
