Yeah, but the English had that stereotype about pretty much anyone they met who wasn't English (and many people who were).

Besides, Perceval the Welshman was the holy fool. Most fools weren't quite holy.

Less -- the guy in the story got what he deserved.

I actually suspected that the game probably involved real badgers. But given the way the Middle Ages treated animals, it wouldn't surprise me. I'm still traumatized by the Medieval game played in rural Italy, that involved nailing a live cat to a post and got worse from there.
