Deathly Hallows - Ten to Go (spoiler-free!)

Jul 21, 2007 07:52

Okay, so I have ten chapters to go in Deathly Hallows. Although to be honest, I might need to re-read those last five chapters I just finished. So far I like it a lot, much more than I liked HBP ( Read more... )

My friend was spoiled for the...third or fourth chapter while sitting in the parking lot (dumb people driving by. But she was also dumb for sitting outside), but it was such an absurd spoiler that she didn't think it was real. SURPRISE, lol.

The spoiler about Hedwig, right? That one actually caught me by surprise.

Anyway... "It's too stupid to be true!" That's what my mom said when she read scans of the ending. Grrreeeat. I'm so looking forward to it, now. Woo-hoo.

I still haven't read the rest of the chapters, but I do have to say I'm loving that we're finally learning all of [SPOILER'S] past. About freakin' time.

She'd told me about the spoiler (dammit, I made it SO LONG without ANY spoilers!) but yeah, we both thought that she wouldn't do that. It was like, "Wait? Why Hedwig? ANIMAL CRUELTY!" I guess it's a little better story-wise than keeping her around, because all their apparating would have been a billion times more difficult with an owl in tow. Plus she's rather distinctive so they couldn't necessarily just send her somewhere.

And amen about [SPOILER'S] past. As soon as the first newspaper article came up I was like "...duh. Why the hell haven't we known ANY of this before?!" Harry = dumb.

Well, if Voldemort = dumb, then Harry should = dumb too.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about Hedwig's death. It was surprising, but it makes sense. Could Harry really have held onto a cage the whole time he was flying away from Death Eaters?

OMG, if JKR pulls one of those crap clifhanger endings like KA did, I'm going to seriously be pissed. It's kind of funny actually. I like HP, but my younger brothers and I were talking about books that defined our generation. He was flipping out that Harry might die and what happens then, and I was explaining that this was how I felt when I heard that animorphs was ending. To me, it will always be the harry potter of my childhood.

Oh god, I still remember my ANGER at AM 54. I don't think I've read that book since then...maybe I did. Once. So much anger, though.

I wasn't too angry at 54, the first time I read it... because it was the eighth book I read. It wasn't until I read the rest of the series that I hated it.

I hate to be the one to break it you, but it turns out Voldemort's last Horcrux is the Blade Ship. It's all very anticlimactic.

Unless Harry, Ron and Hermione decide to Ram the Blade Ship.

OH MY GOD. XDDDDDDD You win for making that reference. I love you.
