The California State Senate approved
SB1421 requiring students starting in the 2009-10 school year
to receive instruction in parenting skills before graduating from high
school "provided through either a course in home economics or the
one-semester course in American government and civics."

I wonder if they dropped a requirement for some other class, or if this just makes it that much harder for some students to graduate.

Was this a required class? Also, note that these laws vary from state to state. Were you thinking of California or elsewhere?
