I think I've mentioned before that one of my favorite time-management concepts is "Eat That Frog." The idea (loosely) is that first thing in the day, you eat a frog, and your day can't help but get better after that.
The book of the same name apparently expands on that idea, saying you should start with the most daunting thing on your list that you can accomplish, and after that, the rest of the list will seem easier by comparison. I think the idea is a little simplistic (and I can't say I'm very good at applying it myself), but there are times when the concept is useful.
