Title: Home Again
Pairing/Characters: Dr. Larry Fleinhardt, Special Agent Megan Reeves; Larry/Megan

Spoilers: For The Art of Reckoning, Two Daughters, and a minor one for The Janus List (if you count Megan coming back as a spoiler, that is).
Summary: Larry and Megan miss each other very much.
Notes/Warnings: A piece of fluff I wrote because we didn't get a Larry/Megan moment in The Janus List. Rating for kissing. Unbetaed for the moment because umbralillium is on the other side of the country.

Home Again
When he returned to Earth and eventually his office, he found an envelope waiting for him on the desk. He knew who'd left it simply by the way his name had been written. It was from Megan. Thanks to Charlie, he already knew that she wasn't in Los Angeles, but maybe she'd included a hint in her note.

Picking it up, he realized there was more in the envelope, something metallic and odd-shaped. Puzzled, he opened it and tipped it into his palm. A key slid out, one that he remembered from each time he'd walked Megan to her door after Crystal Hoyle had kidnapped her. It was the key to her apartment. He tugged the single sheet of paper free and read the short note: Larry, I'm sorry I couldn't be there when you came back. Duty calls and I didn't have a choice in the matter. You're free to use my apartment while I'm gone. I don't know when I'll have a chance to call you, but I hope to before you've been back for a week. Missing you terribly, Megan.

He smiled faintly, touched that she'd thought of him, even in the midst of something so top secret and hush-hush that not even Charlie knew what she was doing. I miss you, too, Megan. Our phone calls were never quite enough. Sighing softly, he tucked the key into his pocket; glad for a place to stay once his retreat at the monastery in Altadena was over.

Feeling the effects of jet lag, Megan let herself into her apartment. Turning on the entryway light, she was pleased to find evidence that a certain CalSci professor still on sabbatical had found the note she'd left for him. Closing the door behind her and leaving her suitcases where they were, she picked her way through the disorder that had invaded the apartment since she'd left six weeks ago.

Eventually, she reached the bedroom and smiled fondly when she saw Larry asleep in the bed, cuddling the extra pillow to his chest. Perching on the edge of the bed, she lightly stroked his cheek with her fingertips. "Larry, wake up." His eyelids fluttered and slowly opened, revealing gray eyes still hazy with sleep. "Hi, Larry."

"Megan..." he murmured with a sleepy smile, reaching up to cup the back of her neck with one hand and tug her down to him for a kiss, which she returned quite happily, the effects of jet lag fading away. When she pulled away to breathe, Larry stared at her in bemusement. "This isn't a dream, is it?"

"Nope." She shook her head, laughing softly. "It's lovely to see you, too."

Larry tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. "I've missed you."

"I missed you, too." She kicked off her shoes and stretched out beside him on the bed, kissing him once more.

They traded lazy kisses for several minutes; their arms warm around each other, until Megan yawned in the middle of a kiss. "I never used to bore you."

"Oh, you're not boring," she explained, quick to reassure him even as she stifled another yawn. "It's just jet lag."

He nodded, tugging the sheet up to cover both of them. "Sleep. We can talk tomorrow."

"Thanks, Larry." She smiled as she snuggled close, resting her cheek on his shoulder.

She felt him kiss the top of her head and was suffused with warmth and comfort. It was good to be home again.
