We are happy to announce the birth of our precious baby girl, Justice Jay "JJ" Ackles. She was born happy and healthy on May 30th.If I knew how, I'd link directly to the specific tweet

I'm delighted that the baby is here and healthy - but being NO fan of quirky baby names, I haven't stopped eyerolling yet.
And of course, the "J2" aspect of it, plus the "Jay" being the tin-hatters' accepted nickname for Jared, has got them squealing that the baby is named for Jared. And you know what THAT means.
The name is unusual, but I don't think it's particularly quirky. It's a virtue name, and no one considers names like Faith, Hope, Charity, Constance, Chastity, or Prudence "quirky." It has kind of an old-fashioned feel to it. It also continues the family trend of unusual names; "Jensen" and "Danneel" (or even "Elta") aren't common names.
I personally would have put an "e" on the end of "Jay" for a girl, but that's just me.
"Jay" is also one of Jensen's nicknames (and I think more associated with Jensen than Jared in RL), so I suspect that it is in homage to her daddy. Though I wouldn't be at all surprised if the middle name of "Jay" is homage to both her daddy and her daddy's best friend(s--Jared, Jason, brother Josh), but that's not unheard of, either. So, you know, whatever. Jensen and Danneel can't help how they'll be judged by the public, and I don't think they should let the judgment of the nameless masses determine what they name their child.
I'm looking forward to (official) pictures. I'm sure she's adorable!

I do. To my mind, they're 18th century names. Out of that list, the only people I can think of with those names are Hope Lange and Chastity Bono. I don't know anyone (personally) with any of those names.
Maybe it depends on what kind of community you grew up in. I know two Faiths, one Hope, at least one Charity, and about four Graces. "Justice," comparatively, is a pretty awesomely unusual name. :)
Don't even go there. From what the forums say, it's already started.
I like to live in my happy little corner of the world where tumbr doesn't exist, where real people are real people to be respected, and babies are a reason for celebration.
I'm looking forward to the release of some official photos. I bet she's adorable.
