Mmmmm. not sure because with those writers it still can be a figures of speech. Do you know anything about 712 other than those stills? It can be related to that ep.
Oh, I fully expect that it's setting up for 7.12. Obvious time-related clues followed by a time travel ep? Of course.
My personal speculation at this point is that something is strange with Dean's timeline and he's out of phase in some way. I don't have details, or any way of explaining it better, but that's my supposition right now.
I don't know anything about 7.12 except what was in the promo trailer and the promo still. (And I accidentally got spoiled that apparently Chronos is supposed to show up in the next ep.) That's it. So this is all speculation based on what the show has given us up to this point.
I'll be interested to see how it all fits together.
You're in your own little time-phase, too, I see. :-)
That's been the subject of much debate and fudging. Kripke himself has said the implied 2-year thing (Dean and Sam had not spoken in 2 years) was a mistake. But we fans know how to make it work.
But how long Sam was in college isn't what Dean was saying. What Dean was saying was that Sam was in college "a couple years ago." And I'm thinking, "Um . . . you mean six years ago, Dean? Closer to seven?" I thought it an odd reference, but just took it as a figure of speech. Until I started looking at just how many time references were made in the ep.
Wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff all through this ep.

But there is something hinky going on with Dean's place in the space-time continuum.
And hinkiness in the space-time continuum is the best.

Or a DeLorean.
Maybe it's all that zapping through time he's done. He's lost a nano-second here and a nano-second there and now it's starting to catch up.

Dean's timeline is already hinky. Not sure fast-forwarding to Friday would be beneficial.
;-)
Am eagerly looking forward to it, though.

I thought pilot!Sam was in his fourth year given that he had aced his LSATs. (But yes to everything else.)
