The best vanilla I've ever used is vanilla bean powder. It's dried vanilla beans ground up to a powder, and it's the most vanilla-ist vanilla I've ever had.

The site I buy it from, BioMedCafe, is geared towards allergy sufferers (and diabetics), so I expect they stock it because it's the purest form of vanilla possible, with absolutely no additives.

It's true, the Mexican vanilla is the good stuff. My mom and I used to make regular trips to Tia Juana every few years for vanilla and enormous paper flowers. Good times.

Oh, how fun!

Yes, I can't wait to get my hands on some Mexican vanilla again. I've been so spoiled over the past many, many years having such a big bottle of the good stuff at hand. (I'm now very sad at what my baking is lacking.)

Paper flowers! I helped make paper roses for Christmas one year. They were lovely and fun and I should look up how to make them again.
