Houses of the Holy

Looking back from S4? This ep takes on a whole new significance, I think.

First, let's get this out of the way: Dean and the Magic Fingers crack me up.

This is another ep I was prepared to get twitchy about. How were angels going to be presented? And I'm rather delighted that it made a point of stating that people cannot become angels. *thumbs up* Humans and angels are two different types of created beings, and one cannot become the other.

But this time around, the constant refrain that went through my head was "Give it a couple seasons, Dean."

"There's no such thing as angels." Wait a couple seasons, Dean.

"If there were angels, don't you think we would have seen one? Or know someone who'd seen one?" Wait a couple seasons, Dean. That honor will fall to you.

When Sam points out the painting of Michael, and they have the discussion with the priest of angels as God's Warriors. Take notes, Dean. This will be important to know in a couple of years.

Also, in light of "In the Beginning," I'm curious about the path Mary's faith took.

And the role reversal at the end was heartachingly wonderful, with Sam doubting his faith and Dean opening up to the possibility of God's will being real.

And is it coincidence that in the very next episode, after losing his faith, Sam gets possessed? I think not.
