Last night, Geo and I watched the Dr. Who movie with the Eighth Doctor. Knowing next to nothing about Dr. Who except what I've seen in the new Who (I pointed out to Geo that Chris Eccleston and David Tennant are "my Doctors"--yes, I've a plurality of Doctors), it was still a rather fun movie. For this die-hard fan, the movie holds a paradoxical position: I love the 8th Doctor, and the movie was pretty stupid. What I tend to do when I rewatch the 8th-Doctor movie, is to fast-forward though all the bits that don't have the Doctor in them...

Paul McGann, didn't have more of an opportunity to play the role, that this 8th Doctor didn't get a longer life span, so to speak.

That's why I really like the Big Finish 8th-Doctor audio-plays -- because they give him a longer life-span.

I've read at least one excellent 8th Doctor novel, too (Paul Cornell, I think, so...).
