My LJ set to self-destruct; find me on Dreamwidth

May 07, 2017 18:22

Hi everyone! This is my goodbye post to LJ.

You may (or may not) have noticed that ever since the new ToS on LJ came out, I've been posting on Dreamwidth only - same username, feliciacraft.dreamwidth.org. Long story short, I don't want to go, but I can't really stay, since my stay would be contingent upon my acceptance of the ToS. For the same ( Read more... )

Thanks for this info. Being a paid user, #1 helps a tiny bit. But in the end my money still supports the Russian mother company, and doing so does make me feel uncomfortable. I'm not ready to cross over to LJ yet, but once my paid account runs out, I may do exactly that. In the mean time, I have trouble keeping up with two platforms, so I apologize for having missed your DW only posts... Hopefully I'll be able to catch up later.

For some reason I can't edit my comment, but obviously I meant cross over to DW... That's what I get for posting in the middle of the night (getting up tomorrow morning will be awful).

*waves* I'm still pretty firmly planted in LJ, so I guess this is goodbye. Totally understand your reasons for leaving though!

I have at this time decided to stay on lj. I do have a DW. I don't cross post, I copy and paste my posts into DW.

I understand your decision and I'm sorry to see you go, but maybe I'll see you on DW.

I'm sorry to see you go. As a permanent Lj account holder I'm not sure where I stand - but I'm not giving any cash to anyone so I suppose I could be vulnerable. Who knows. I don't use DW so I'm sorry I won't see your posts any more.

ETA - may I quote you regarding the points you made? I think they will be interesting to others

I almost never read the Info News from and about LJ so I did not realize LJ now belongs to a Russian company and subject to their National Rules and Censorship. It's a big disappointment since I have been on LJ for so many years, always with a paid account. Plus, this is just about my only regular connection, other than fanfiction sites of EF and SR or my Buffytube site.

Especially now that all the crap is coming out about the Russian cyber attacks - really not comfortable at all with Russian being the owners of LJ and having the right to impose their rules and agenda on non Russian users and customers.

I too would hate to leave behind all my LJ friends, all my connections with Buffyverse fans and all those memories but maybe it's time.

I will miss you at LJ very much.

All my best wishes to you.
