Rhys Meyers said in a interview a few years ago that he would love to play Flashman but that now he's said it, someone else would get the role!

The problem with any actor is that they'll be either too old or too young for parts of Flashman's life.
Rhys-Meyers, Cavill or Christian Bale could do quite well I think.

Matthew Goode is actually a good choice. He is in his early to mid 30s right now. He can easily age from 19 to say . . . 41 or 42.
