Oooh wonderful. Gillette is journaling again. And there is great rejoicing. I love him rescuing the kitten--surely that will count as righteousness. But the story about the vessels and the alehouse begs to be told!

And I love the snarky little exchange with Groves. "unarmed into a battle of wits" *snerk*

Prevailing wisdom--a contradictory cliche Isn't that the truth! "numerus stultorum infinitus"--the number of fools is infinite!

half apologizing for winning an argument I started This made me laugh.

And of course Gillette is right this time. The repercussions will be infinitely tragic.

As always, your insights into Gillette's character are perfect and your choice of words completely enjoyable. Excellent.

Yay! Gillette journal fic! Wonderfully witty, as usual, I so love the way you portray him in these, and it's great to see the events and the other characters from his point of view, it makes you think about it all in a different way. My favourite bit here is this, I think: But I become inarticulate and stutter when pressed by a mind more facile than my own, and Groves demolished me. He left, shaking his head at the folly of a man who blunders unarmed into a battle of wits.

As ever, the aristocracy will emerge unscathed by their foibles.

Damn, ain't that the truth? Entertaining little ficlet -- it puts a new light on PotC2, that it does.

It's perfect. Just perfect. And so sadly true.
