Channing parted ways with his talent agency

I just read this. I am not surprised, afterall he has not made much money for them. My worry is that he has lost interest in acting. Let’s see what is going to happen next ( Read more... )

Hmmmm.... indeed. It could be a sure sign he is not that interested anymore in acting. He seems to thrive as a businessman.

Or he could find his career is mot going in the direction he wants and so he is getting a new agent ?

As you say, we'll see.

Another possible outcome is he will go without an agent for a while. Like in September, Jennifer Lawrence also left her agency CAA. Here is the news from that time:

The exit was amicable. Lawremce isn’t taking meetings with other agents. So it is possible she goes the direction of Leo DiCaprio, who has run his career with a manager and attorneys. In fact, they are the same managers and attorneys, Rick Yorn at LBI, and Steve Warren and Gretchen Rush at Hansen Jacobson Teller.

You see, without an agent, he can negotiate himself. He does not have to cut a portion of his income, he only needs a lawyer. Since he’s already established, so it might work. Obviously, it works for Leo.

Interesting. Channing may be more interested in making his own deals so that makes sense. He seems they type to want more control.
