I saw two movies of Jamie Bell in the last 24 hours. I think this year Jamie actually has a shot for his first Oscar leading actor nomination. His performance in the movie Skin checks all the boxes for an Oscar bait role (physical transformation, based on a true story etc.) and the movie is actually pretty relevant to current political environment and most important, it is well made.
I don’t understand why last year the producers of Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool tried so hard during the awards season. I think if Jamie Bell could get a nomination at BAFTA last year, he can get one this year too. Also he gave good performance in the other movie (Donnybrook) I saw yesterday, But that movie has this pretentious feel. It’s the director’s problem, I don’t like the way the director told the story, but Jamie and a young actress called Margret Qualley both gave raw performances. Margret is Andie MacDowell daughter. I saw Andie in the theatre too. She is gorgeous as always. She was there to support her daughter.
Hey ! This is very cool ! I'm glad you got to see him in person and that you were impressed with his performances.
He'd deserve to be more acknowledged as a great actor. I think the films he plays in don't benifit from a powerful PR team. Very often, the marketing has a lot to do with actors being recognized and awarded.
