The box office number is out, Kingsman 2 made 39M in North America. It is less than industry expectation, but more than what Kingsman 1 made two and half years ago. Worldwide, it broke the 100M mark. Very interesting analysis.

I regret a bit not seeing more of Tequila as a cowboy. This was a rather cool outfit and persona for Channing.

Ah, I had the feeling Pascal had the screen presence I expected from Channing, except for the traitor part.

Like you, I take relative interest in this project for the role Channing plays. I don't care for Eggsy character. I bet he feels smothered by his wife and his in-laws at the beginning of film 3.

The film could indeed have been thighter. They could have cut things and add more Tequila for more coherence.

The people I talked with in real life and the comments I read on the net converge. There are the people who enjoyed the ride and thought it was hilarious because Kingsman can do no wrong, and those who were fans of the first film too but are disappointed with this one, because it is more of the same and not new anymore, and suddenly, in the second movie, they become VERY aware of the flaws that were present in the first film. Oh well.

I got the impression that Channing was cast to draw attention to the movie, but on the whole his role was not very impressive, neither was that of Jeff Bridges.
And where the humor of the over-civilised Brits worked, the cowboy attitude of the Yanks did not at all.

The writers' focus is not the Statesman, this is still a Kingsman movie. I think they did a sub-par sequel. I am not a huge fan of the first movie anyway. I just feel a bit cheated by the whole marketing plan to highlight Channing's cameo.
