Robert Pattinson interviewed Jamie Bell. Read the full interview here. This time Jamie admits he is 5'7" ;p The whole interview does not reveal much new, such as he enjoys his anonymity. At one point Pattinson said he thought Jamie's spirit animal was a very excitable lamb or a little baby goat. lol ( Read more... )

Hmm Channing Tatum and up and comer? I can't remember if he was very well known before/during the Eagle, it certainly seems he blew up after that.

The Eagle was released in 2011, he had some financial success with 2009's G. I. Joe and 2010's Dear John. But critically, I don't think he was on anyone's radar. He really became a huge star in 2012 after scoring three 100M (domestic) movies within six months.

Yeah the Eagle was not where I first heard of him but definitely where I first became a fan. Originally I was watching for Jamie Bell and the potential for a new slash fandom. no shame ;)

Back in 2010, I was so frustrated with my previous slash fandom (BBC Merlin), and I started to look for a new one. Then I saw the trailer of The Eagle, I immediately saw the slash potential. I remembered Channing from Step Up and She's the Man (I still think She's the Man is more enjoyable than Step Up), at that time, I slightly worried about Channing's acting skills. Anyway, after I watched the movie, I was very satisfied. Here is my review.

For me, it is nice to re-read what I wrote almost four and half years ago.

The Eagle fandom has never become big partially because it is a small standalone movie. Also I felt the little fandom was a bit too pro-Esca and pro-Jamie back in those days. Luckily for me, Channing's career really took off in 2012. And this year, there is even a reunion, so all is good, except for the fact that there is really not much of a fandom for The Eagle now.

I enjoy both articles.

I agree with Januarysix and you : Channing wasn't on anybody's radar.
Maybe with retrospect, we can state that in 2009, he was an up-and-coming Young actor as opposed to the famous star he is today.

Ah, about the Eagle fics, I noticed that too, that there is often a bias for Esca and Scotland. I ove Esca and Scotland ! Bur the put-down on Romans was sometimes irrationnal.
In those days, most societies were martial and wanted to conquer at least the other village. We can disagree with this mentality now, but most of them were war-oriented in those days. Therfore, I don,t agree when they go Romans are the nasty war-mongers, enslavers, and Britons are those nice hippies. Unfortuantely, slavery, existed in Scotland as well. Rome didn't invent it. And a Roman slave could at least earn his freedom, depending of the context.
