It felt so good to wake up this morning. Foxcatcher received rave reviews at Cannes, and Channing's performance was praised by the critics. I am glad Channing's hard work was rewarded. I'm aware that this film is not likely to make money, a bit like Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Brokeback Mountain. Not feel-good movies to say the least.But prestigious ones, and more than likely to become classics.

But the combination that gives the film its heart is the pairing of Tatum and Ruffalo as the brothers; Mark being the bruised and vulnerable bear of a man, with the more sensible Dave acting as his trainer, mentor and, ultimately, saviour.

On first glance, Tatum appears to be doing little but scowl and glower, but the performance is deceptive; his meathead mumbling and lumbering gait belie Mark's crippling vulnerability.
