I went to see Thor 2 on Friday afternoon. Since it was a 2pm showing, there was not many people. I like that, so I could pick the best seat

Personnally, I don't plan on watching Thor 2. Truth be said, I'm a bit fed up with super heroes franchises. I never cared that much about it to begin with, and now I think they overstay their welcome. On the other hand, if people enjoy these movies, more power to them, I won't begrudge them their fun.
I don't understand what the fuss is about Loki. I never found him menacing. Anyways.
I agree with your comment about artists who have enough energy and talent to touch on different trades ( directing, producing, writing, etc.). This seems like a smart plan in this fickle indsutry.
30 minutes more? That will be too long for theatre viewing. An action movie with a straight plot like Thor 2 is better wrapped up in two hours. I think the pace of Thor 2 is good. I have no complaint in this regard.
It sounds like Hiddleston is smarter. It will be interesting to see how long it will take him to make it happen. I prefer people who actually do things than the ones who only talk about doing things. Time will tell.
Apparently, what was cut was character interactions and development. So, yeah, you have no investment in the characters because there is no character to invest in. I know them from the comics already so I already KNOW them. If you don't, they are flat and uninteresting.
Hiddleston's play opens 12/6 to sold out shows. Not a huge theater but a very well respected venue. And he has Del Toro's film Crimson Dawn he will be shooting after. And Only Lovers Left Alive may finally come out. He did mention doing something in terms of directing but said no more, so I suppose he may be trying to work a deal. Plus he does a lot of work with UNICEF, film juries, that sort of thing.
I think given that he is financially well off to begin with, he can afford to wait and do the scripts and jobs he wants to do. Loki pays very well and gives him the room to work with directors HE likes and wants to work with.
It's fair that one judges a movie's theatrical release based on what one sees in the theatre. So, yes, I am not impressed with this movie and its characters. Some of the hype about the movie probably comes from what fans imagine could happen on screen. But the reality is far from that.
Also I don't think Marvel has treated younger stars very well. The only actor who got a big fat cheque is Robert Downey Jr. Last year, Downey was #1 on the Forbe's highest-paid actors list. The second was Channing Tatum. The rest of the Marvel stars like Hemsworth or Evans couldn't even break into top 10. And I don't think TH will be paid more than Hemsworth or Evans. But if you compare their salaries to regular people's earnings, they are certainly well paid.
so the Loki character doesn't get a new twist but just more of the samw like last time? that's bad, because I like Middleston because of his Henry V BBC work where he is a very strong character only afterwards I realised that Loki was played by Tom, but I did not even recognize the weak dweep as Middleston. so it isn't very interesting for me to go, as I don't get very excited by Hemsworth either Maybe it's time Hollywood realised that the Marvel-well is running a bit dry by now.
I am neither a Hiddleston fan nor a Loki fan, so I may be biased. But I do feel the character has been doing the same things for three movies by now. If people enjoy this character, they probably love the movie.
