it's not often we have to put a hold on so great a part of our usual - ''normal'' - social and other activities;
seems like it's liable to be part and parcel of there being so many of us, with travel between countries and even continents so easy and affordable for so many of us -
- without our having bothered to raise the living standards of the poorest on this planet to the point at which it's highly unlikely any infection can make the jump from another species to ours so easily, as is still evidently possible. . .

- sobering, isn't it, to think that covid-19 is relatively benign in its effects upon us;
which mayn't be the case, for the next nassty to jump to human beans. . .
