5-10 lbs is realistic in a gastric bypass patient ... in the *early* stages. (First month or two maybe?) Sometimes I think things are funnied up on reality TV for dramatic effect, but then again, when it comes to such shows, Im pretty cynical, so you have to keep that in mind. =)
I'm not a big fan of reality TV myself, but I've become fascinated by the apparent progress that has been made by these morbidly obese people. I wonder how, even with the medical supervision they must get, there aren't more injuries among the contestants. But then again they may not show all the injuries they incur.
I think reality TV is heavily edited ... maybe not in order to manipulate viewers, but, again, being cynical about the genre, I wouldnt be shocked if that was the case.
