The website for Life Magazine always has the most awesome pictures. BUT they are vexing me mightly because their pics are posted in such a way that I cannot simply 'right click save' them. I used to have a tutorial on how to go about saving the pics, but I've lost it.

on Windows 7, you can use the Snipping Tool

on earlier versions you will have to use Ctrl+Print Screen and then edit in an image editor

or try an external program, Screenshot Pilot

Thank you very much for the advice. Beautiful pic, Fedal_fangirl, I didn't have it yet in my collection.

I always use Photoshop : first print screen, then open the programm, then new file, then edit + paste, then crop and you have it. Eventually you can make it sharper and save it with JPG extension. That's how I deal with unsavable pics :)

I've used this method from home. Unfortunately, at my work (which is where I do most of my pic searches) we don't have photoshop. I would complain to the bosses but then they might catch on that I'm not actually performing much work. Don't want to ruin a good thing. XD

You're so lucky to do that at work! I used to look for pics, read lots of journals, listen to Wimbledon live, until someone caught me and now it so plain boring sometimes!

I've seen that gorgeous pic on Lif beforee and tried everything to save it, here's what I found:

1. Open the source code of the website, if you using IE you click "view" on the menu and then click "source", if your using Firefox just press Ctrl + U.
2. Look for the link or "source" of the image. I'm using Firefox and I found this link. It only works if I click it from the source code.

It takes a long time to find the links but these two just make the effort worth it :)

Hope this helps!

Yes! Thank you... this is exactly what I was looking for. I have used this method before but somehow misplaced my instructions. Thank you!
