This is a great account and you have successfully made your umpiring debut! You overcame your nerves, or at least supressed them enough to make the calls. Next time will be easier, and by the end of the season you'll be an old pro at it.

I can imagine you using your new found skills in the workplace and yelling "Strrrike" at rule-breaking students :)

I got my clicker just before we had two days of interviewing for several part-time posts last year.
I was very tempted to respond to weak or poor answers with "Strrrike one!" *click*
