I can't imagine that they're not natural. Perhaps not a normal or regular occurrence, granted. Possibly the result or precursor of some major geological event. That would be my guess, at least. [ But is totally chill with it because lol, Clow. ]

Ah, there's a bit of a story behind it, but in a nutshell it's when we celebrate the one day a year that two mythical lovers get to be reunited.

For our purposes, we can say so. It's based on a legend about a weaving goddess named Orihime in the Japanese version of the tale, and a cowherd whose name escapes me just now. They were lovers, but because the king of Heaven found that they distracted one another from their jobs he had them separated by a river and allows them to meet only one day a year.
