[The wind blows in the background; for now, Syaoran takes a breath, as if to speak. Then he pauses, silent for a few moments but for some belabored breathing. Then:]
...The forest.

He sees something.
Well, this is mightily familiar. He knows the story, and if he's right, this is the clone.
Nataku will be running to stop him now.]

Like then, he hardly makes note of Nataku's appearance, except to tighten his grip on the sword in his hand.]

He raises his bow and fires, ready to equip another.]

Silent, Syaoran swings his sword at the stranger -- he hasn't unsheathed it, he has at least that much will left.]

...Are you okay?

He doesn't know the boy asking, but it doesn't matter. He's staring. Frustration bubbles in Syaoran's blood like a strange beast -- he's normally so level-headed, so calm...but now he's getting angrier. Color flashes into his eyes: a faint hint of red, unnatural and glowing. It's gone within moments.]
Yes.

Still, she couldn't help but venture outside, to that tree she made with her magic. She said it was for Syaoran. In a sense, it was, although Woody and flowery probably made it while being out of control without that in mind. She liked to think so.
She sits at the base of the tree, hoping that maybe Syaoran will come there. She couldn't help but fret over him-- he had been acting so strangely lately!-- and this was how she was going to show it, instead of potentially bothering him, which was the last thing she wanted to do.]

He wasn't expecting to find Sakura there. Either of them. He had just--

Something is just off here.]
Now now... It is only me.

This isn't right.
He sighs, putting a hand to his face.]
... I'm sorry.

But nothing was random, and this, too, had been fated. It was almost as if she'd known in advance, that she would meet that child at the prime of his crisis.[
You're planning to go into the forest, I see. [That was all she chose to say. By now, it was quite obvious he had been infected with the same virus as the others - Malice, they called it - and so Yuuko had to study him for as long as she could, in hopes of finding a cure. He still had a role to fulfill, and it wouldn't do well to risk having him die a true death.
And making sure everything would go according to plan was her job to perform.]

He already felt anxiety welling up in his stomach. He was silent for a while, eyes flicking to the forest.]
... Yes.
[He couldn't say why. He didn't know why.]

In that vein, she takes a step closer and studies his reaction to it. As long as he didn't back off, it would be fine.]
Whatever it is you wish to do over there, you will not find any feathers. In your current condition, it would be best to remain here.
