This sounds a truly awful book! In True to the Trefoil there's a discussion of the differences between Campfire and Guides. Most of the examples come from books by Elsie J Oxenham, where girls tend to agonise over the choice between the two.

It is of its age and constrained by the attempt to 'sell' the Camp Fire movement.

The Camp Fire movement appears in For the Sake of the School by Brazil. I don't recall the Guides being mentioned as a choice there.
