I LOVE Steinbeck! I think if you had his work shoved down your throat in high school it can be hard to have fond memories but if you read much of his stuff he was a dark mofo and always wrote about the working class/underdog. GRAPES OF WRATH is one of my fave books!

In retrospect, I was probably too young to fully appreciate it. Or maybe not in the right head space. I know I read Grapes of Wrath because I wanted to check it off my list of "Classics You Must Read" but whenever I force myself to do that I end up resenting the book more than seeing it for what it is. This was probably back in late high school, so I will have to revisit it!
