RAWR HEATHER SMASH!

Somewhere around getting the flu and the death of my laptop, I lost my plot. I'm not sure I had one to begin with either, but that's not the point. The high I had felt from finally being able to write again, and being pleased with myself has vanished into the void, and I'm stuck wondering where I went wrong ( Read more... )

Hey, hon. Don't give up.

I'd love to help, but I have no time. I'm at 20K myself, but dedicating today to my hd_hols fic, which ... um ... seems to have very little plot. Um ... plot is what I do, so I'm a bit perplexed myself.

As for writing in a non-linear fashion ... if you have the 'lines' mapped out and you insert, at the appropriate spot, as you go along, it won't feel quite as disjointed. You can always move stuff around later, but I find that if I at least insert the scenes in some sort of order, it helps.

I hope you're able to get help. Regardless, don't stop writing. You can always ask for more help after you write some more.

*hugs*

I'm not, but it's hard when you're not even at 30k and your only computer at home is the "family" computer in the living room, which your father likes to use all the time. I've taken to journaling stuff.

Heck, I wrote NaNo novel fic on the back of a Dunkin Donuts bag this afternoon, because I forgot my notebook for the car trip and that was all I had on hand.

On the bad side? I didn't come in with a strong enough outline so now I'm floundering and just writing whatever random thing pops into my head that could pertain to the story. I'm pretty certain that's not working out well at all.

I haven't hit 30K yet either, and I suspect I won't meet the 50K target this year. My kids are home with me this weekend, so it's not bloody likely I'll be writing 10K a day. But I figure it's still a success to have written this much, and I'll continue working towards my end goal.

I'm reading your tag line as I type this ... EVERY WORD written is a victory ... ;)

Bleh. I'm gearing up to go back out at three this morning, so I'm writing all the way up until we get ready to leave. I'm going to Best Buy to hopefully get a new laptop. >< It probably won't happen, but I'm sure it'll reaffirm why I never want to go shopping tomorrow. Heh.
