I'm learning python now! it's so awesome! but very hard to adjust to the new way of thinking + syntax.
Also, based on my very limited knowledge of programming, you did not do much at all according to that last sentence. Open a file and save it or something?
I love python. After I write python code, I hate going back to Java and C/C++.
Java's compiler is called javac. The compiler takes a .java file and makes a .class file out of it (which you can run). The .class file is the 'output' of the compiler. It normally will be spit out into the same folder where the .java file is but you can specify another path (location) with the -d option.
And that should be like waaaay more information than you wanted.
python! I learned that last semester. And proved to myself that I am not very tech savvy. But it was still an awesome class- i got to write programs that align dna strands and simulate growing virus populations in patients. programming is very rewarding when the code works =). yet soooo frustrating otherwise.
thats how i felt about math last year... ooh, determining the jacobian in order to compute an inverse matrix? solving a double integral in polar coordinates? yeah, no one doing p-sets at 4am cares but it sure does sound cool. :)
i never got into programming. i somehow knew at a young age that i would suck at it so i prolonged it until my sophomore year of college when i turned in all of my statistics p-sets half-done because i could never (ever) get matlab to work.
