Really love the idea of Bucky being the beginning and the end. And that Steve is the core. Feels right.

Steve is so much the heart and soul of the Avengers, which is why his leadership brings him together and his departure sort of kills things. I have to imagine we'll see him coming back into his own as leader in the next movie.

But really, Steve's all about Bucky. I think we see such a fundamental shift in his actions in Winter Soldier, which are cemented by his decision in Civil War. He starts off with the Avengers as a guy with nothing to lose. Bucky shows up and he has everything to lose again. I don't think it's his destiny to let that go without a fight.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Thanks for commenting!

Thank you so much for writing me a Stucky fic!

Very intriguing starting point, of Dr Strange looking back in time and seeing where Steve and Bucky began, and great observations about Steve, especially when it comes to Bucky, and how Bucky always comes home. I like the metaphors of the threads and blanket through the story, the yarn on the shelf, how their destinies are entwined. Good points about Thanos’ ploy and how it is his undoing. The importance of moments.

That’s not the path all heroes take, however. Some heroes, after saving the world, just find time to save themselves.

Exactly! Steve certainly deserves it.

That answer seems agonizing to Bucky. “So how do we walk away?”

“Pretty sure it’s just one foot in front of another,” Steve says.

Typical Steve

When it comes to Steve, I do think he plays a critical role at the core of the Avengers. It seems pretty obvious that the fact that the starting team survives Thanos' finger snap for a reason -- and it certainly seems to me that Steve is at the heart of that. He's always been sort of the central figure, which I think we see in the first Avengers movie, when he finally assumes the role of leader and the others follow his lead in the battle ( ... )
