Fairy Tale
Once upon a time, or maybe for just an instant, Yogi thought of he and Gareki as make-believe parents to Nai.
Gareki was Nai's Papa and Yogi himself was Nai's Mama. And Mama loved Papa.
Mama and Papa would protectively watch over Nai. Papa might seem mean and pretend he wasn't always watching Nai out of the corner of his eye, but he would really dote over Nai in his own way. Mama simply couldn't hide his love for Nai. He would affectionately coo Nai's name when Mama wanted a hug and squeeze him to him tiiightly.
Sometimes the sly Uncle Hirato or the blunt Uncle Akari would make appearances, and Sister Tsukumo liked to care for Mama and Papa and Nai in a shy, subtle way, while Sister Eva would make sure they knew of her love for them.
Many sad things would happen, but their little family had fun too.
But something was wrong with that. Mama would do everything he could to make Papa happy, but Mama still didn't know if Papa loved him. Mama couldn't bring himself to say anything to Papa, but he couldn't stop thinking about it either. It made Mama silently miserable... more miserable than Yogi wanted to think about.
And so, the story would end. Unfinished, but Yogi decided it was better left without a true ending. That way they could remain content with the way they were, and their little family wouldn't dissolve like melting snow.
To continue would hurt Mama too much, anyway.
And, worst of all, he couldn't be sure Papa would care one bit.

Title: Stuck
Universe: Karneval
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Implied Gareki/Nai
Fic Type: Drabble
Rating: PG
Word Count: 108
Warning: Spoilers for Score 8.
Summary: Gareki hates knowing how defenseless Nai is.
---
Stuck
Damn, damn, damn.
Gareki hated knowing it. Knowing that Nai shouldn't be left alone. That he was too defenseless, his cherry-colored eyes too wide with an untouchable innocence, and he would only end up in bad situations because of it.
He was too pure and too easy to take advantage of. Gareki could tell that from the start; it frustrated him. Partly because he wanted to use him too, this clueless, naïve animal of a boy.
And it was almost too true - that Nai shouldn't be left alone, or rather…
Gareki didn't want to leave him alone, and knew he couldn't bring himself to even if he tried.
