Leaning close, Stephen tapped the code he’d stolen after weeks of trailing behind one of the lab techs, matching her order and rhythm. The light blinked, the screen demanding further confirmation.

He lifted his hand, placing it on the scanner. Computers weren’t his forte, so there was no way to know if he’d successfully reprogrammed the computer to switch his palm with the tech’s.
Heart racing, he clenched his jaw.
The panel pinged benignly; the lock opened.
Flush with gratitude, Stephen slipped inside.
