When wandering about the intertubes today, I found this link about a place with lots of stone towers, which was an inspiration for a new planet in my Mindeodean storyverse ( Read more... )

A bit less creative: a planet covered entirely in very deep sea, with sorta dolphin-like humans...

*Giggles* Actually, I already came up with something similar. Oddly, the water-humans I came up with have their genesis from a desert planet and a crazy cult leader.

How about a planet where the surface is too hostile even for engineered humans (acid rain?), but which is full of inhabitable caves? Improved sight in the dark and flexible bodies suitable for squeezing through small holes would be useful there.

Hmm... neat. And the humans could use drilling tech to connect the caves so they can travel underground and not have to go to the surface. Though I suspect, on the off chance of making contact with another human species some day, they might have *something* on the surface, or leave some kind of buoy. Hmm... first contact with that race would be interesting.

By the way, are you planning for individuals from different human species to fall in love with each other? :)Considering the fact that my Traipah storyverse has the Ah'Koi ( ... )

Possibly weather satellites to see when it's safe to move between unconnected caves, and when it will be necessary to move deeper underground.

Indeed. Great idea! :-)

Does something like Japan exist in your universe? ;P

LOL!

Ok, you need to dig thru a lot of the SF RPG supplements I've got. You can use some dice and the word design rules to come up with planets and if they give you ideas, great.

Some of the supplements have predesigned worlds, too.

There are a bunch of old SF stories you can raid for ideas, too.
