I think I know how it works that way. In America, people only see the doctor for emergency stuff - stuff that can't wait any longer. And so the doctors get deluged with lots of stressful stuff that's hard to do. I think in countries with universal health insurance, people go more often so they're healthier when they do go, and tend to catch these kind of bad things quicker, which makes taking care of it easier.
