On Facebook, I got into a discussion on thunderstorms, and I mentioned that I've never seen a thunderstorm since moving here in 2007. Another Portlander expressed confusion at this, saying he'd seen a couple. This is how I responded:

Living in Illinois, it’s usually about this time of year that we begin seeing thunderstorms. Today’s no different, it’s only after 9 in the morning, but it already loks like it should be 6 in the evening. I’m already sure we’re going to have thunderstorms. We had one roll through the area shortly after 8:30 this morning-at which point, the sky turned extremely dark. Now, it’s not as dark; however, I don’t think we’re done with thunderstorms for today.
My incredible boyfriend, Sean “MixingK” Keffer isn’t fond of thunderstorms. I’m not sure what it is, but the thunder scares him a bit. Whenever there’s a thunderstorm at night, I don’t want to be away from him. It’s nice to be there for one another, to comfort one another during “smashy” and “rocky weather events. I wouldn’t leave him for anything in the entire universe.
