Premonitions are such strange things. I believe that I have had dreams that foretold the deaths of various loved ones over my life, but when I think back on it, I wonder if my brain didn't just create memories of those dreams after the deaths occurred. Like the trauma made my brain create a meaning or a purpose that wasn't there. Brains! I tell you! Can't live with them, can't count on zombies to eat them.
This was a very well structured and written entry. I'm sometimes a little "meh" on fiction these days, but I appreciated the three act structure (and time jumps between the acts) and that you tied in some real world events with your story. Nicely done.
Now is when you tell me its non-fiction and I feel silly. ;)
How did you come to know about the Sri Lanka issue? It's such a specific thing to link your prompt to that I am curious about your inspiration or personal experience. It's a solid piece overall.
