This made me think of a scene in "The Bear," where the cub eats some of those mushrooms and then has LSD-like dreams about the frog he encountered earlier that day. Tons of slow-mo frogs in all colors of the rainbow!
I only liked cooked mushrooms as a kid, and now like the regular kind. But I would not, on a bet, eat a naturally-occuring plant that exploded if you poked it. That's just wrong. :O

I agree about the puffball mushrooms. I've actually encountered a couple, and they almost certainly don't seem edible.
