Vaccine: I had the second Pfizer shot on April 8th. So I’m now past the freedom-granting 2 week mark! Which enabled me to go to a surprise birthday party for a friend on Sunday.

Gastroenterology: As I mentioned previously, my doctor referred me to get a GI work-up to see if there was any source of bleeding which would account for my iron ( Read more... )

That's pretty interesting - I went to the ProLon website to learn about it - but I'm suspicious of any diet developed by a very handsome doctor and endorsed by TV star looking other doctors! Actually, I'm wondering about the "fasting mimicking" part; how does nourishing food make your body think you are fasting? Doesn't make sense, but tell me about it.

I think the idea is that it results in the same chemical changes in the body that fasting does, e.g. reduced insulin-like growth factor.

I am planning to start the next cycle in a few days so will write more about it in a week or so.

I previously had to be on a similar diet to what you describe and it just wasn't fun. I didn't last very long at all. I was okay with carbonated beverages and mint but onion, garlic, spicy foods, and tomatoes were hard for me to give up for very long.

Never heard of the ProLon program so I'm curious to read more about it through your updates.

Tomatoes are easy for me to give up. Onions are impossible. Mint is surprisingly hard, because mint tea is something I often drink if I want something hot and uncaffeinated.

Tomatoes are so crucial for my pasta consumption that they were hard to give up. I did do it successfully for a while though.

Onions and garlic? I feel so bad for those who are allergic to them because they're the base of basically everything I make.

I couldn't agree more about spring allergies. Keep your spooge to yourselves, trees!

So sorry about them wanting you to limit all of your favorite food. How frustrating.

Actually, my doctor didn’t say anything about restricted food. That list was all Dr. Google, making me feel more justified in mostly ignoring it.

Agreed. I don’t really consume a lot of those, but I enjoy them.
